Acrylic paint is a very versatile medium. It can be diluted with water, but becomes water-resistant when dry. When the acrylic paint is mixed with water, acrylic gels, pastes, or other mediums, the finished product can resemble a watercolor or oil painting. But an acrylic painting has its own unique characteristics not attainable with any other medium. The possibilities are endless.
Canvas and canvas boards are the surfaces most often used for this medium. Acrylic painting is a great introduction for the new painter, as well as the experienced artist.
